To pierce the obscurity, the silence, the fog with which the Spanish dictatorship attempted to cover their dreadful crimes, the most atrocious crimes imaginable. It is with this purpose that the Association for the Recuperation of Historical Memory (ARMH) was founded in 2000. Ever since, the ARMH has been working to recuperate, to remember, to bring back the disappeared, those who were abducted, killed, abandoned, their bodies hidden. It has been a concerted effort on the part of many people contributing in different ways and in countless locations. For many years witnesses have come forth to share their memories, pointing out ditches and other places in which mass graves hide their secrets. Throughout these years and in a bid to right these wrongs, we have met countless families who were crushed, subdued and shattered by the dictatorship, forgotten, insignificant to the State of Spain which has so far failed to give them truth, justice or reparation.
